NATURE OF WORK:
The Director of Education Services develops and leads the overall pedagogy strategy and the administration of related programs and activities of the Youth Sector of the Cree School Board, focusing cutting-edge Indigenous education.
Reporting to the DDG Pedagogy, the Director of Education Services leads the Education Services Department, working directly with Youth and Adult Education sectors, as well other areas of the CSB.
The Director of Education Services leads by example, fosters a spirit of teamwork, engages employees, and facilitates a workplace culture in keeping with the CSB organizational values.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS:
Departmental Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Youth Sector strategic plan, initiatives, and monitoring of the budget, etc.
Ensure efficient and effect systems, procedures, tools and administrative standards of the function, while supporting the overall organization and ensuring alignment with legal and governance requirements.
Lead, coach and supervise professional and support staff
Role-Specific Responsibilities:
Create and deliver a structured, culturally relevant pedagogy strategy that will contribute to the CSB’s goal of student success.
Oversee the development and implementation of strategies, frameworks, models, and programs to ensure the preparation, development, implementation, and application of instructional programs, means, approaches and teaching methods.
Actively participate in and provide direct support to the education ministry strategies and action plans
Align the strategies and action plans of the education ministry to the CSB.
Oversee departments such as Instructional Services and Student Services.
Monitor and evaluate the success of the Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum.
Provide consultation and information to administrators, managers, directors, school committees, and commissioners on matters related to Education Services.
Oversee the direction of research and development in the areas included in Education Services, particularly curriculum development
Remain abreast of leading practices in related areas. Develop and maintain professional network and represent CSB in educational matters.
Obtain and gather information of related projects implemented by other First Nations, Inuit, and Métis which may be of interest to the CSB
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position, excluding a manager position in a board;
A permanent Quebec teaching licence (brevet) issued by the Minister for a position in the teaching field;
Eight (8) years of relevant experience, notably in management and solid experience in teaching.
Highly proficient oral and written English is required; Oral Cree is highly desired. Oral and written French is a definite asset.
Master’s degree in Education or relevant field of study is an asset.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS : Temporary Full-time position. End of contract July 3, 2027.
BEGINNING OF EMPLOYMENT : As soon as possible.
